Strategic Plan · 2025–2028

A four-year roadmap to deeper, lasting impact.

Aanyu Initiative Uganda's Strategic Plan (2025–2028) advances mental health, advocacy, and socio-economic inclusion for vulnerable women and the girl child, building on our foundational work and scaling reach across Greater Kampala, Luweero, and Nakaseke.

Executive Summary

Building a society where every woman and girl thrives.

AIU recognizes the urgent need to address the mental health crisis and socio-economic challenges faced by vulnerable women and girls in Uganda. Despite progress, mental health support remains underfunded and misunderstood, leading to stigma, discrimination, and limited access to quality services.

This strategic plan serves as a roadmap for AIU's growth and sustainability over the next four years. It outlines our goals, thematic areas, and actionable strategies to address the systemic barriers faced by our beneficiaries, while aligning with national and international development priorities.

Vision

A society that actively values and consistently supports women and girls on their journey to positive mental health and social inclusion.

Mission

To advocate for mental health and human rights through education, sensitization, research, and the provision of holistic, quality mental health support services for women and girls in Uganda.

Six Thematic Areas

Where we'll focus from 2025 to 2028.

01

Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

Establish and operationalize a dedicated Mind Guard Centre; deliver tailored mental health services, therapeutic interventions, and psychosocial support, especially for women living with HIV/AIDS or facing stigma and discrimination.

02

Economic & Social Empowerment

Empower vulnerable women and girls through vocational training, financial literacy, micro-loans, and access to income-generating opportunities that foster self-reliance and dignity.

03

Shelter & Safety

Provide temporary safe spaces for women and girls facing homelessness, eviction, or family neglect, and support residents into long-term housing through a structured re-integration program.

04

Advocacy & Rights Protection

Amplify the voices of women and girls through policy advocacy, sensitization, and awareness campaigns that combat stigma, discrimination, and legal barriers.

05

Health & Well-Being

Address the broader health needs of women and girls, including sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), nutrition, HIV/AIDS management, and Drop-in Centres in rural areas.

06

Organizational Development

Strengthen AIU's institutional capacity, governance, fundraising, and resource mobilization to ensure long-term impact and growth.
